Historic Wallpaper

The conservation of historic wallcovering offers a unique challenge in that it is often the plaster substrate and not the paper that has failed.  Frequently this requires the removal of the paper, repair of the wall and the re-installation of this fragile medium.  In other instances, the paper is no longer attached to the substrate, or in some cases sections of the wallcovering have been lost.  We offer a full range of wallpaper conservation and restoration services including cleaning, conservation and repair.  Since the preservation of the original work is essential, we always practice minimally invasive methods to insure as little disruption of the original surface as possible.
