Stone Column Restoration & Repair: Grafton Library

Grafton, Massachusetts

The sandstone bases of the columns of the circa 1927 Grafton Library had cracked and spauled over the years and had been poorly repaired with inappropriate materials. The first step was to carefully clean all surfaces. Blackburn then removed the earlier patches and replaced them with a custom mixed patching mortar. Molding combs were employed to replicate the original profiles of the stone.
