The Zuber wallpaper installed in the dining room at a private residence in Manchester, had stains resulting from roof and gutter leaks at several locations. While most of these areas were near or at the ceiling, they offered a significant interruption to the generally pastel tones of the paper.
The challenge of this type of wallpaper conservation is to block the stain from reoccurring and at the same time to inpaint the stain to make it less obvious or disappear entirely. To complete this project, we used heavily pigmented, reversable paint in multiple layers to blend away the stain.
