The large crystal and brass chandelier had adorned the entrance lobby at Mass Mutual since the 1920s. This unique chandelier was constructed using three iron discs with holes drilled to secure 172 large clear glass sunbursts. A very heavy fixture, weighing close to five hundred pounds with its crystals, this chandelier restoration and conservation project required their removal first, followed by disassembly of the iron sections. The crystals had to be individually wrapped and carefully lowered to the floor. Iron units were lowered in sections for disassembly at the shop. Consisting of Three tiers, the fixture was cleaned, and more importantly, rewired. It was very important to secure the wires, since the chandelier was mounted 65 feet from the floor.
